Art Studio finally finished

Whew! That was a long time coming. We had a cement slab on our property that was an eyesore. We needed to either do something with it or get rid of it. After finishing our 800 square foot straw bale home, we decided to construct a straw bale art studio on the slab . This was a easy decision to make because the space I was using for gourd art was taking up most of the living space in the house including our only table. So we built the art studio, almost. It was 90% complete and then we got busy with other things and there it stood for 4 years. Finally, I made a firm commitment to get it finished and this week, we moved my supplies and tools into it. Oh what a joy! It is a joy to have the space solely for my work. It is a joy to have the house back to a more manageable home. I am grateful to my husband for putting up with the art mess I created, for the team effort of brainstorming and creating this space, and for helping me move in.
We initiated the space last evening, not by doing gourd artwork, but by touching up an antique frame of a picture that is near and dear to my husband and his childhood memories of his grandfather. It was a special moment for me working shoulder to shoulder with him in this new fresh space.
And then I spewed stain all over the wall when i hammered shut the lid of a can. Yup, it really is initiated now as a working art studio with a messy artist at the helm.
